WWE To Make MAJOR NXT UK Announcement Today
The future of WWE's British brand could finally be clarified.
WWE is expected to be planning a major announcement on the future of their beleaguered NXT UK brand later today.
This is according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online, who states that talent have been informed of a mandatory conference call requiring their presence sometime today, though the exact topics of discussion weren't specified.
Meltzer notes that the call could conceivably be related to anything from a new code of conduct in the wake of the #SpeakingOut movement, in which multiple NXT UK wrestlers have been implicated, to a broader statement on the brand's future.
NXT UK performers Travis Banks and Ligero were released from WWE on Friday following abuse allegations.
The past few days have brought conflicting reports on what's currently going on with NXT UK, which has sat dormant since the global health crisis kicked in. First was a story stating the British imprint was on the verge of a shutdown, before a contradictory report emerged suggesting that WWE officials were formulating a return plan, with tapings pencilled in sometime within the next few months.
Today's call will hopefully provide clarity on the burning questions surrounding the brand.
