WWE: Top 10 Title Unifications In Modern Wrestling

10. Layla / Michelle McCool Defeats Melina To Unify The Divas & Women's Titles (Night of Champions, September 2010).

WWE Womens Title This is immediately a weird one, because Layla and McCool were already "co-champions" as Women's champion, but it was McCool who actually beat Melina to unify the belts. Although the Women's title had been around for much longer, the Divas title was a more marketable belt and that's the one that exists to this day. WWE likes to play it up as 50 years of history behind the belt, but really it was only around since 1985 when they dragged it out of mothballs for the Moolah v. Richter feud. Match Quality: Meh. It was no Melina v. Alicia Fox, the undisputed best Divas match ever according to that chick on Tough Enough. Long-term Significance: Well, the Divas title is still around, although both belts meant about the same thing (ie, diddly-squat) so getting rid of either one was fine. The Women's title was so meaningless by this point that they literally had it SAWED IN HALF for the goofy "co-champion" angle and no one cared.
