WWE Trying To Keep Chelsea Green Trademark

Despite releasing her in April, WWE is looking to maintain the "Chelsea Green" trademark.

Even though she was released from the company in April, WWE is still pushing to retain the "Chelsea Green" trademark.

The former Knockouts Champion was part of the company's initial post-WrestleMania 37 cuts, and Green's since gone on to resurface in IMPACT Wrestling alongside real-life fiancé Matt Cardona, in addition to her having involvement with both Ring of Honor and the NWA.

Where this trademark issue is concerned, PWInsider reports WWE was in touch with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in response to an office action made on 5 August.

Previously, WWE moved to trademark this name back in November 2020, with Green at that time giving her permission for the company to do so. Since then, Chelsea herself began the process of obtaining this trademark this April - and WWE's latest action was to remind the USPTO that Green had consented to WWE taking this trademark last year.

Obviously, WWE likes to trademark anything and everything they can, yet one has to question why there would be any particular interest in holding on to the "Chelsea Green" mantle for the company. While the Canadian is an extremely talented performer, her time in WWE was a fleeting one that rarely saw her appear on WWE programming before she was handed her release in April.

In other Chelsea Green news, this weekend also saw it made official that the former Laurel Van Ness will be appearing at both NWA EmPowerrr and NWA 73 later this month.
