WWE And UFC: 10 Shared Values Of Sports Entertainment
8. Athleticism
Let's get one thing straight, WWE stars in 99% of cases could never make it in UFC. The world of MMA is infinitely tougher than WWE and the majority of UFC prerequisites are either completely lacking in pro-wrestlers or would take a year of training to instil. Brock Lesnar is a physical freak, he achieved UFC success, but who else in WWE could conceivably do what he did? Who has the athletic background and attributes of elite strength, speed, power and stamina? No one. CM Punk has teased a turn in MMA but with no formal jiu jitsu belt he would need at least a year of elite training first. Even then, Dana White would most likely only use him as an Ultimate Fighter tv ratings gimmick like he did with Kimbo Slice. MMA at the PPV level is so elite now that Punk could never catch the top ten contenders up. Still, although transitions are highly unlikely, you can't deny that both WWE and UFC have shared values of athleticism. Take a look at a Daniel Bryan match, he's enjoyable because he shows off a range of agility, pace and strength. As fans we enjoy both WWE and MMA because they have athletic events at their core.
