WWE Ultimate Warrior DVD Review: 10 Things You Should Know

1. Conclusion And Verdict On The Ultimate Collection

The Ultimate Collection makes for an interesting and entertaining view. You will be struck by just how much you find yourself enjoying Warrior's matches. For all his poor worker reputation, his in-ring style worked for him, the crowd loved it. Feature matches with Harley Race, Randy Savage, Rick Rude, Andre the Giant, Ted DiBiase and event the Hogan match are all really good. His chemistry with Savage and Rude in particular made for some thrilling matches for the Ultimate Collection. While the interview never gets too heated, the digs at Sting, Hart and Bischoff seem to suggest Warrior had heat for those men. There's no hint of problems with Hogan. It's a solid and worthwhile interview overall. Yes, it would have been nice if it wasn't so soft-ball, it would have been great to hear Warrior talk about his controversial exits or the decision to change his name. By the end, Warrior seems a normal-ish guy. Having started out with shouting, by the end he seems more realistic. You do however get the feeling he is constantly managing his image and own version of events. One thing he is obsessed with throughout is character. "More colours, more paint, I started upgrading my body. I became a comic book character. I got better and better and better." Perhaps the most contentious comment of the whole DVD, is Warrior claiming "I never stuck my nose in gossip or backstage stuff, I focused on my character." The production ends with him implying he could even return to the ring soon. "This is just the start," he says in a show closing monologue which hints at big things he wants to get off his chest at the Hall Of Fame and beyond. The overall verdict, this collection is well worth your time and money. Good matches, good interview, that's exactly what these releases should be. For a slice of late 80's-early 90's WWF nostalgia you won't find much better than this.
