21. Wrestlemania 29- Overall Score: 2.3/5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWlnFd-bv1M OMQ: 2 CROWD: 1 STAR POWER: 4 HR: 1 FEUDS: 3 PROD. VALUE: 3 Underwhelming. Lazy. Beige. Those were the first three words that came to my mind when I thought about Wrestlemania 29. It felt as if WWE did the absolute bare minimum with this event and certainly didn't go out of their way to provide the 80,000 or so fans whom convened upon MetLife Stadium last year a reason to remember it. It's telling- very telling- when the Raw event that followed the night after this has become the more noteworthy, memorable show. Not trying to disparage Raw, what a tremendous night that was but nothing and I mean NOTHING should ever shine brighter than Wrestlemania. That said, WWE got its 1 million buys, it got its record setting gate receipts and it got them on the back of two banal rematches. More power to them, I guess. Personally, I felt insulted by this event and pray tell they put a bit more pride into this year's showcase. 20. Wrestlemania XXVI- Overall Score: 2.5/5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rovfB38b3XY OMQ: 3 CROWD: 2 STAR POWER: 1 HR: 3 FEUDS: 3 PROD. VALUE: 4 I often wonder if WWE has forgotten what it means to write Wrestlemania. In recent times, they seem to have forgone the idea that 'Mania needs moments, events or matches that defy time. That live in memory for ever. They seem to have diverted course to an idea that big stadiums, glossy lights and 15-minute guest music performances serve alone to make 'Mania unique. That and Undertaker's match. For if you take Undertaker's match out of 'Mania 25, 26, 27 and 29, what do you have? This was another one of those events that just simply didn't do enough- that passed by in an apathetic stream until 'Taker's match came along. Now that match, being Shawn Michaels' last, makes this event noteworthy but if WWE wants to create an event that stands true to the hyperbole they apply to the name of Wrestlemania again, they simply need to do more. 19. Wrestlemania XXV- Overall Score: 2.5/5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk_bPTehKuM OMQ: 3 CROWD: 3 STAR POWER: 2 HR: 1 FEUDS: 3 PROD. VALUE: 3 OK. 'Nuff of this negative lark, let's now be positive yo. The build-up to "The 25th anniversary of Wrestlemania" was, actually, not too bad. You had Michaels & 'Taker bound for an all-time classic, you had Randy Orton at the peak of his viper persona terrorising the McMahon family, even Matt Hardy's heel turn worked decent enough for a couple of months. I'll avoid talking about the whole Edge-Vickie Guerrero-Big Show love triangle débâcle- I said I'd be positive remember! This event laid the groundwork for, at least, a decent show and was ultimately let down by some poor booking decisions on the night and Mickey Rourke's 180-degree U-Turn on a supposed match with Chris Jericho. On another day, this event could've been one remembered fondly for the ages but just didn't do it on that given night. At least 'Taker and Michaels will stand the test of time. 18. Wrestlemania 13- Overall Score: 2.6/5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiTWsWSvnCA OMQ: 2 CROWD: 3 STAR POWER: 2 HR: 5 FEUDS: 2 PROD. VALUE: 2 Who would've known? Who could've known that when Steve Austin and Bret 'Hitman' Hart stepped into the squared circle the night of March 23rd 1997 that we were about to embark upon the journey of the most popular superstar and most popular era of all time? Sure Austin was getting a reaction, sure Bret was too but that kind of history? Nah man. It is true that the ultimate legacy of a moment or a match or even a whole Wrestlemania cannot be ascertained as it happens. Retrospect inevitably will play its part. Was an entire industry altered by one sharpshooter? Or is that melodramatic? What is known is that it all occurred AFTERWORDS. In retrospect, the legacy of 'Mania 13 is huge but the event itself, not so. Austin wasn't that kind of draw, yet. Michaels was hurt. The main event was terrible. It did the lowest Wrestlemania buy-rate of the last 25 years. Blame the nWo if you like but 'Mania 13 wasn't that great. Austin/Bret was but one match doesn't make a whole show- I don't care how famous it later becomes.
