WWE Vs. AEW: How Do The Empty Arena Shows Compare?

4. Creative Commentary

WWE:

Commentary provides wrestling promotions with a creative get-out in this unprecedented situation - any distraction, any different tone, is essential - and WWE nailed it across both RAW and SmackDown. Triple H's blend of humour is divisive, or just cruel, but he didn't Chris Masters Michael Cole. It was clear that they are on good terms, and this palpable chemistry was vital in setting the impossible tone. Asuka meanwhile is universal force for good, and was sensational at the desk. Her guttural tone and crazed, bouncy disposition injected a wicked, off-kilter sense of levity into our homes. They should invent the technology with which to make replicas of Asuka. She is the greatest.

AEW:

The level of insight Orange Cassidy provided is rivalled only by Chris Charlton's wealth of historical knowledge and the minutiae of conflict over in NJPW, but Chris Jericho stole the night with his piss-funny patter. His butchered Spanish pleas to Santana and Ortiz - "Rapido!" he said, as they crawled to tag out - were bettered only by his Waffle House jibes at the expense of Arn Anderson.

2020 is so batsh*t, man. It's the year of the commentator, when just last year commentary standards had never plummeted lower.
