WWE Wants A Female Star To Team With Kalisto
Mixed tag program with Rusev and Lana rumored to follow.
According to a report in this week's issue of The Wrestling Observer, there is currently talk within WWE of pairing Kalisto up with a female wrestler in the hopes of creating a mixed tag team feud with Rusev and Lana. To that end, Lana has started working NXT shows to gain in-ring experience.
There's no word yet if WWE is looking for a female grappler from within the company or without, though most of the women in NXT are already involved in storylines in for the brand. Either way, though, the idea of a protracted feud likely bodes well for Kalisto, meaning that even if he loses the U.S. Title on Sunday, he'll still be involved in a program with the champion.
Lana's first actual televised match came at WrestleMania 32's kickoff show, where "The Ravishing Russian" teamed with Naomi, Tamina, Emma, and Summer Rae in a loss to Brie Bella, Alicia Fox, Natalya, Paige, and Eva Marie.
Since then, Lana has been competing in tag matches at house shows, typically teaming with Team B.A.D., Emma, or Dana Brooke. She made her NXT debut last Friday in Key Largo, Florida, where she teamed with Mandy Rose in a loss to Carmella and Daria.
