While there’s been plentiful talk of how much of a big deal WWE is looking to make this year’s SummerSlam PPV feel, there’s now word on some similarly major plans for the 2021 Survivor Series.

As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is hoping to have Dwayne Johnson involved in this year’s edition of the company’s November staple.

Having the Rock appear at Survivor Series has yet to be locked in, but WWE officials are hoping to have the Great One featured on the show in some form or fashion – which, if it happens, would add plenty more fuel to the fire where it pertains to those rumours of the Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38.

When there were rumblings of Rock vs. Reigns last year, the general consensus seemed to be that such a contest wouldn’t take place in 2021 and would instead be more realistic for the following year.

At this juncture, WWE has yet to officially confirm the date of Survivor Series 2021, although Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast is reporting that the PPV will take place in Brooklyn.

Where any plans for the Rock come into play, rumour and innuendo claims that WWE Champion Roman Reigns will face a returning John Cena at this year’s SummerSlam, possibly lock up at some point with a returning Brock Lesnar, then turn his attention to battling the Rock at WrestleMania 38.
