WWE: Why CM Punk Should End The Undertaker's Streak At WrestleMania 29

cm punk undertaker Let me first start off by saying that this match isn't even confirmed yet, though in mine and everyone else€™s mind it seems like a foregone conclusion at this point. I love CM Punk. I won€™t even try to hide it. There€™s just something about him that I have a deep admiration for. Even more so than what he has done in the ring, it€™s his overall attitude and passion for the business to be run the right way that makes me respect him so much. When he thought he was being treated unfairly he delivered one of the greatest promos in the history of WWE. He wasn't going to be walked all over, and I appreciate that. And even though I drink and smoke, and Punk does neither, I have an admiration for his lifestyle choices as well, to have values and live by them. With all that being said I love The Undertaker as well, he is a true legend in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. The man has accomplished more than almost anyone that has come before him and the majority of those who will follow. His streak at WrestleMania is something that should be applauded. Not so much the fact that he€™s won every match he€™s wrestled at WrestleMania, because as we all know, it€™s scripted. But even more so is the fact that the streak, now at 20-0, has spanned over 20 years. The longevity The Undertaker has shown in the business is incredible, and for a big man I€™m sure not easy to do. He is loved by all generations, I€™m a child of the attitude era and can remember being genuinely afraid of The Undertaker. He evoked emotions in all. He was, and is, an all time great. But the streak should end here. The Undertaker has already established himself in the hall of immortals. Nothing he does could possibly ever take that away. While I think Punk still quite isn't there yet. Like I've stated ad nauseum in my posts, I love Punk. I want every match to go his way, I want him to have both championships and hold them until he retires. There is nothing this guy can do that would make me stop loving him. And I know you all might be thinking that I don€™t know what I€™m talking about. A lot of people would claim that Punk already is an all time great, that his 400+ day WWE Title reign was enough to put him over into all time great status. I sort of agree. If the rest of Punk€™s career follows in the same footsteps that his career has so far, than he will no doubt be a titan of the sport. But none of that is guaranteed. We all see what is happening with Randy Orton right now, he is stuck in no man€™s land with no end in sight. As much as we can so now that something like that will never happen to Punk, we probably would've thought the same thing about Randy Orton. I think at WrestleMania, if The Undertaker would put Punk over, they€™d never have to worry about something like this happening. One win over The Undertaker at WrestleMania would immediately propel Punk into the discussion of who is the greatest ever. Something he deserves. From the Undertaker€™s perspective I€™m not sure if he€™d be willing to do this. Though I would see him losing absolutely nothing by putting Punk over, and if he ever were to lose I feel he€™ d get an enormous ovation from the crowd in NJ, which would be a pretty great way to end your career, with 70,000 people standing up and cheering your name. I doubt this will ever happen. The streak has taken on a life of its own the last few years and seems to be one of those untouchable things. In this situation though, the old guy putting over the young guy would do way more good for the young guy than bad it would do for the old guy. And it€™s a business at the end of the day.
