By WrestleMania I, Brunos son David was trying to kick-start his own wrestling career. Unfortunately, promoters saw David as nothing more than a vehicle to get his famous father back into the ring. The writing was on the wall: when David was with his father Bruno, such as in his match against Brutus Beefcake at WrestleMania I, he was pushed and enjoyed some success. But when Bruno wasnt there, David was a jobber. Frustrated, both Sammartinos careers fell apart thereafter. Bruno felt that this was the worst part of his career, while David experienced more shortcomings in his own career. David quit wrestling and became a personal trainer, and his relationship with his father became strained for a very long time. Recently, Bruno managed to mend fences with WWE, and accepted an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. David, meanwhile, still works as a personal trainer, but also wrestles semi-regularly at legends shows.
