Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, Valentine was an excellent heel, winning many of his matches via underhanded tactics, including his bout at WrestleMania I . He was also one of the better storytellers of his time, using a shin guard on his calf to amplify the effect of his Figure-4 Leg lock finishing hold. After a long and successful career, Greg Valentine was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2004, before retiring in 2008. He made sporadic appearances on the Hogan Knows Best reality show afterwards and cropped up here and there. He was in the wrestling news recently when he made comments that women shouldnt wrestle. These comments were reported during the full bloom of the Divas Revolution, and shortly after Bayley and Sasha Banks had their first outstanding match together.
