The Rock (c) Vs John Cena Vs CM Punk See why I dropped the triple threat for the World Title? I really ummd and arrrd about this one. See, I originally had Punk taking on Taker for the Title hoping and praying Rock didnt win the strap. That didnt work but I still thought that Punk Vs Taker would really be an amazing consolation prize; recent reports suggest he wont be at Mania. But these are only rumours and no one really knows Takers Mania status. I decided to go with this match as Taker is not yet on TV. Cena has already declared he will face the WWE champion on the night and I really cant see Rock losing the belt to Punk at The Chamber purely for the fact Rocky will bring A LOT of publicity to the event itself. The only problem we have here is that Rock is away for 2 of the 4 weeks before Mania leaving no Champ on TV for some time. This could mean Punk will become Champ again. I dont see it though; the money Rock brings will sway Vince to keep the title on Dwayne. The beauty of this match is that Rock doesnt need to be there, as Punk and Cena can push this match forward in his absence. While Rock is away it surely creates more buzz in the media circles he will be floating around if Rock is defending against the house hold name John Cena AND the man Rock beat for the Championship who had held the belt for over 400 days in CM Punk. The money practically prints itself. CM Punk also deserves this main event at WrestleMania considering that over his title reign, he was only in in the main event of a PPV 4 times compared to Cenas 10 and even The Rock who was involved in 3. It justifies Punk and his reign and doesnt bump him down the card purely because the money makers are in the main event. The Rock will likely need some space during the match to catch his breath and in case the ring rust shows again like it did at The Rumble! Cena and Punk always put on a great show so they could easily craft a great match involving the charismatic Rock. The build-up I can see being built up solely on the mic as all 3 have the ability. Yes Rock is not the one of the greatest anymore but he still shows passion and willingness. I think that this would be a very traditionally main event and would have a true main event feel. What else would you want other that the three biggest names currently on the roster headlining the biggest show of the year. Will it be as good as a Taker / Punk match? Of course not but if he really isnt able to perform, this is a good substitute. Fantasy booking Winner: John Cena If you think anything else would happen in this match youre deluded Im afraid. Cena has already come out declaring why he would fight for the WWE championship. He lost to Rock last year and hasnt beaten Punk. This is where all that changes and Cena becomes a Champion in WWE for the first time in 19 months. Even a none Cena fan like myself finds that absolutely mind boggling and, to be fair, he might actually deserve it. Alternate Booking What if Cena interferes in the Title match at the Chamber? Its pretty obvious that no matter which way they choose to go in that match, it wont happen clean. What if Cena goes into Mania declaring how he HAS to win the title otherwise hes nothing anymore? What If Cena turns heel and lays out both Rock and Punk with a chair to become the new champ? What if he was working with The Shield the entire time? Itll never happen but who knows? Ill be back again in a months time for my final predictions a month before the event itself on April 7th.
