WWE WrestleMania 30: 10 Shocking Turns That Could Happen On The Night

4. CM Punk

Wishful thinking? Maybe. But despite hinging on his return €“ which isn't particularly looking all that likely at the moment €“ CM Punk could change everyone's perception of him in an instant if he were to turn heel at WrestleMania XXX. In his last run as a heel - most of which he was a wonderfully snivelling, cowardly champion at the peak of €“ Punk was perfect, hitting his absolute highest high during last years road to the big event, feuding with The Undertaker. Punk managed to come across as more sinister than the deadman himself, stealing the urn filled with the ashes of the recently deceased Paul Bearer and dumping them upon the fallen phenom. But since then, just prior to leaving the company, Punk's character was going through the motions a little bit, and €“ despite being part of some of last year's most entertaining matches against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and John Cena on RAW in February €“ it clearly needed a bit of a refresh. A huge heel turn at WrestleMania XXX would be the best possible way to do that. How could it happen? If this were to happen, it would need to be as part of one of the major, blockbuster storylines. It wouldn't make sense to have a star of the calibre of Punk turning heel in an undercard segment, or a match that doesn't really €“ in the long run €“ matter all that much to the future of the company. If Punk were to return, and consequently turn heel, it would need to be part of the main event. As the main event of WrestleMania XXX stands, it is Batista vs. Randy Orton, but could possibly turn into a triple threat match if Daniel Bryan beats Triple H earlier in the night. Were Bryan to beat Triple H and advance to the top of the card, the stage would be set. If Punk returned, somehow interfered at Triple H's behest - helping Orton or Batista win the titles - the stage would not only be set for a magnificent rivalry of the most epic proportions between Bryan and Punk, but Punk's character would be refreshed and the WWE would have somewhere interesting to go for the rest of the year. If this were creative's plan, it wouldn't have made sense to have Punk return at RAW in Chicago. If it was ever going to happen, WrestleMania is the place to do it.
