Result: Taker drills Shane with a Tombstone for the win (30:05).

Rating: We all went in expecting this one to be a huge spot-fest with an early break out of the cell and a ton of run-ins, but it was actually a disappointingly ordinary HIAC match for the most part, if still terrifically entertaining to watch.

More than anything, Shane proved that he's still got the guts and athleticism to hang with the roster, memorably turning the Hell's Gate into a Sharpshooter and nailing an awesome Coast-to-Coast. Other fun spots include Shane and Taker going through the side of the cell, Taker dive-bombing into the announce table to break Shane's sleeper hold, and of course, Shane's death-defying dive from the top of the cell, which was surely this Mania's big money moment.

This is perhaps the first time where many fans were actively encouraged to root against Taker, as Shane taking over Raw would've hugely shaken up the product. Instead of all those rumours about Kurt Angle, Stone Cold or the Balor Club showing up to help Shane win, we got a shockingly down-the-line bout that insta-killed a potentially interesting storyline.

Plus, considering that Shane returned to the WWE and pretty much disparaged the product, what does it say when he loses and has no opportunity to change things up? 7/10
