WWE WrestleMania 33: 10 Returns That Could Happen
6. Shelton Benjamin
When Shelton Benjamin was sidelined with a torn rotator cuff last August, it came as a huge blow to Smackdown LIVE. Unlike the return of Jinder Mahal to RAW, Benjamin’s Smackdown resurgence actually had fans excited. He was one of the most exciting Superstars of the Ruthless Aggression era, and his talents felt desperately needed on Smackdown’s mid-card, or even in their tag division.
Unfortunately that’s still the case; Benjamin never actually made his triumphant return to the blue brand, and had to undergo surgery shortly after his re-debut was advertised.
Although no new information has resurfaced regarding Benjamin’s in-ring fitness, four-to-six months tends to be the average recovery time stated after rotator cuff surgery. This puts WrestleMania 33 well inside Shelton’s recovery window.
Given everything that’s happening with American Alpha at the moment, and Kurt Angle’s impending Hall of Fame induction, a Shelton Benjamin return just feels right.
