WWE's Big Cass Set To Miss 9 Months Following ACL Surgery

It could be mid-2018 before we see the seven-footer again.

WWE have issued an update on Big Cass' injury status, and it isn't good news for the man from Queens.

As per WWE.com, Cass has been diagnosed with what ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson thinks is "an ACL tear, possibly a medial meniscus tear." The seven-footer will require surgery, but Robinson adds that the company will "wait for the radiologist to evaluate the MRI and give us their full report."

Cass will undergo surgery to fix the damage later this week, and will then begin what looks like a long, gruelling journey back to action, with Robinson stating "a typical ACL tear takes about nine months [to recover from]."

The injury comes at the worst possible time for Cass, who looked set to receive a major push after concluding his feud with Enzo Amore. The former tag partners fought on this week's Raw, with Enzo awarded the victory when the limping Cass' leg gave way while performing his Empire Elbow finisher, having suffered the injury on an awkward bump to the outside.

If WWE's initial prognosis is accurate, Cass could be sidelined all the way through to May 2018, which takes WrestleMania 34 off the table.
