WWE's Oscar And Razzie Awards 2014

Worst Actor Or Actress In A Starring Role

The worst actor in a starring role is reserved for the men and women whose performance you don't buy for a minute. They are clearly not meant to be in the world of professional wrestling, and would be better off finding another line of work. Watching these wrestlers play the role of a wrestler would be like watching Gilbert Gottfried play Christian Bale's role in American Hustle, or having Selena Gomez as the lead in Gravity. Something is just not working. Here are the nominees... Joseph Hennig for his portrayal of Curtis Axel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcEcv-vh6mY Mr. Perfect was one of the most charismatic WWE superstars of all time. His son was not blessed with that same trait. Watching him cut a promo is an awkward affair for everyone involved, yet we can't look away. It's like watching two teenagers on a first date. Vickie Guerrero for her portrayal of Vickie Guerrero http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0P7LzyK9yw Vickie gets a lot of heat from the crowd. But at this point, is it good heat or go away heat? It's hard to tell anymore. Either way, Vickie is not a part of the same profession that women like Katherine Hepburn and Judy Dench have been practicing for years. I'm not sure she's a part of the same profession as children in a school play. Dave Bautista for his portrayal of Batista http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0lRZgjp6TQ Batista's return to WWE has been an absolute failure so far. He wasn't greeted as a conquering hero, but was instead booed out of the building in short order. Batista tries to tell fans that he loves the sport, and came back because it's in his blood. But unlike The Rock, no one believes him. Nicole Garcia for her portrayal of Nikki Bella http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIhumwZX-R4 Hey, Nicole Garcia was hired to play the role of a professional fighter. She's probably payed plenty well for this gig. You can't blame her for taking it. But in any way, shape or form does she actually come across as one of the toughest women on the planet? In her entire time in WWE has she ever cut a promo that made you believe she even likes wrestling? In the past, this nominee could have also gone to her sister, but Brie has turned it up a notch this year. Perhaps Nikki should consider dating someone like a Daniel Bryan instead! And the winner is...

Vickie Guerrero

I'm sorry, but Vickie Guerrero is a terrible actress. Yes, she can be snide and cackle with some sense of believability, but that's pretty much it. Try to picture her on even the worst acted soap opera on TV, and she'd still stand out for her embarrassing performance. Put her next to Pauly Shore, and he would look like an Oscar winner. To give her some credit, she's become a lot better since her early years, but that's not really saying much. She's gone from underacting every scene she was in to becoming the master of overacting, even by professional wrestling standards. Unlike other bad actors and actresses who are hidden from speaking by WWE (like Rey Mysterio, Tyson Kidd and Naomi), Vickie still gets TV time pretty much every week. The reason why may be one of wrestling's greatest mysteries at the moment.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
