WWE's Sheamus And UFC's Conor McGregor Want To Fight

Angry Irishmen want to fight for real.

WWE superstar Sheamus and UFC fighter Conor McGregor have exchanged an intense war of words on Twitter. The two Irishmen are major stars in their respective brands. Recently, Conor was asked during an 'SI Now' appearance who would win in a fight if the two Irishmen ever met in a cage. "I would whoop his ass. It would be no contest." McGregor replied. He's right. Even with Sheamus' height and weight advantage, McGregor would be able to utilise his elite MMA skills to win any scrap. However, the WWE superstar couldn't resist differing in opinion. "ok @SInowLIVE @ufc @TheNotoriousMMA, Conor wins. I don't hit featherweights or shoeshine boys. Mouth off to @BrockLesnar fella, I'm injured." That was of course a dig at McGregor's small stature. He's a featherweight fighter, but one of the toughest men in all of MMA. "@WWESheamus, @BrockLesnar fought PURE, phoney. Me and Brock Vs You and any shmuck of your choice. #CelticPhoney #TagTeam @JRsBBQ @WWE @UFC" Conor replied, bringing Brock Lesnar's name into the war of words. "Had bigger dumps after a salad @TheNotoriousMMA lad. U can hold @BrockLesnar's @WWE title while the big boys duke-it-out. Win @ufc title 1st" Sheamus hilariously responded. McGregor started to get annoyed and upped the venom. "@WWESheamus @BrockLesnar @WWE @ufc Careful now scaldy, you will wake up with no teeth and your nose on my mantle. #CelticPhoney #NeverFought" The two eventually diffused the exchange with talk of meeting for a whiskey in Dublin over Christmas. It would of course be a major box office attraction if WWE and UFC ever did cross-promote, but this Irish war is never going to happen. Sheamus has zero real fight experience and is much too big to ever match up with Conor in any weight class. For McGregor, this is yet another example of him building his mainstream profile. He's been UFC's success story of 2014 and could be the biggest star in the company by this point next year. He's a vicious fighter with a ton of skill. More importantly, he can sell a fight better than anyone alive. In this respect, he's been compared to WWE's Ric Flair. Conor has a way of cutting promos that just say money. He also struts around Las Vegas in expensive suits and only stays in presidential suites. He's UFC's one true character right now. Look out for McGregor to beat Dennis Siver in January, before going on to fight Jose Aldo for the Feathweight Title in the summer.
