3 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (29 December - Results & Review)
2. Maxxine Has Confidence On The Mic
In contrast to Austin Theory’s bland line-reading promo earlier on Raw, observe Maxxine Dupri, who sounded natural and confident as she talked to the fans Monday night and then went toe-to-toe with Becky Lynch.
The Man confronted Dupri and verbally sparred with the audience (“The only thing I tapped out to was living in Orlando!” “Don’t boo because I left. Cheer because you had me!” “Let me be an inspiration to you – if you become rich and famous, you can move out of here one day too.”)
Maxxine wasn’t impressed by Becky’s shtick and warned her to choose her next moves carefully, threatening to break her ankle. When Lynch said Dupri stole the Women’s Intercontinental Championship from her, Maxxine wasted no time in pointing out that the only thing she stole was the spotlight… and then she appropriated Becky’s affection for referencing Sports Illustrated.
Becky got some verbal licks in before the segment ended, but Dupri was solid here, sparring with Lynch, interrupting her, and feeling comfortable on the mic. It really would be so much better if she suddenly started absorbing in-ring talent through osmosis from The Man, but she deserves credit for Monday’s performance.
