'Macho Man' was firmly at the top of wishlists for Hall Of Fame induction right up until his tragic death in 2011, but it was routinely swatted to one side by Vince McMahon. Bizarrely, McMahon himself had paid tribute to Randy Savage during the 7 November 1994 episode of Raw. He wished his old pal all the best, and wondered if they'd see one another down the road should things go sour for Savage in WCW.

The icon would never make another WWF/WWE appearance.

Bruce Prichard has stated via his podcast that Vince grew angry whenever Randy's name came up in conversations during creative meetings. However, there have been rumours that he was set to make an audacious return in the late-1990s during the 'Attitude Era'. Of course, those aren't the only rumours that have been doing the rounds about Savage for decades. There's a particularly shocking bit of hearsay involving Stephanie McMahon too.

Something had to be responsible for Vince's irate responses whenever someone mentioned Mach's name though. He'd gone from wishing Savage all the best to getting steaming mad whenever he was brought up behind the scenes. Fans have been scratching their heads trying to figure out why Randy was never offered HOF treatment as well.

One of the brightest stars of his generation became a WWF/WWE pariah right up until his death. He'd eventually be inducted posthumously in 2015. Better late than never, but it would've been best had Savage been there to deliver a trademark, "Oooh yeah" during his acceptance speech.
