10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Green Lantern You Won't Believe Exist

8. Barbara Gordon - Created Equal

Of all the figures in DC's library who could've become a Lantern, few would've suspected Barbara Gordon. Her entire being is indelibly tied to Gotham City, where she's operated as both Batgirl and as Oracle. It's when she's going by the latter identity, however, that she's given the chance to be Earth's new Lantern, courtesy of an Elseworlds tale called Created Equal.

In this universe, all the men on planet Earth are mysteriously killed save for Superman and Lex Luthor. At the same time, Wonder Woman resolves to uphold the Justice League's mission with an all-female team, and with Jessica Cruz having not been created at the time of publishing, that meant the League had to introduce a new Lantern.

Barbara was their first choice, and she remained the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 for the remainder of the two-issue series. If nothing else though, her brief appearance as a Lantern reiterates just how weird it is to see figures from Batman's comics trade their capes and cowls for a space-age flight suit.
