Justice League 3000 was a short-lived comic from 2014 that gave readers a look into one of the many possible futures that could be lying ahead for the DCU, and it was actually pretty interesting.

The basic premise is that the Wonder Twins, in a bid to curtail the schemes of the 'five', clone the Justice League of yesteryear to fight for them. This means that Hal Jordan returns as a new Green Lantern, completely with a brilliant design that blends his time as the Spectre with his time as a Lantern int one seamless costume.

The cloning process wasn't stable, sadly, and the reborn Leaguers were far different from their original counterparts. Hal's imperfections, however, gave way to an especially intriguing version of the character, with this version having no need to use a Power Ring, and instead being a pure conduit of green will itself.

The cloak also inhibits his abilities so that he doesn't end up being killed, so it serves both a practical and aesthetic purpose, even if the clone Hal would much prefer a ring like his predecessor.
