10 Insane Alternate Versions Of The X-Men You Won't Believe Exist

10. The X-Babies

Marvel Comics

Now just because these are some of the weirdest versions of the X-Men doesn't necessarily mean they're gonna be the best.

Writer Chris Claremont is responsible for some of the most famous and rightly regarded stories and concepts in the history of the series, such as introducing characters like Rogue, Emma Frost and (ugh) Gambit, and penning arc like the Dark Phoenix Saga and Days Of Future Past. Then there are things like the X-Babies. He is all responsible for them.

Originally the literal de-aged versions of the X-Men, regular villain Mojo - a morbidly obese alien and owner-operator of the Mojoverse, where the population are addicted to his hyper-violent brand of reality television - saw fit to create his own toddler sized clones of the mutant heroes, each with suitably adorable names (Nightcrawler becomes Creepy Crawler, Storm becomes Shower etc). In reality their creation, by Claremont and artist Art Adams, was inspired by the current trend for younger versions of popular characters, like the Muppet Babies.

The X-Babies have cropped up sporadically since, a decent one note joke run into the ground by repeated use. We've since seen the Mitey 'Vengers and the Brotherhood of Bullies, and... okay, they were still pretty cute too. But please, no more. Seeing a miniature Rogue (called Sugah) speaking in a baby talk approximation of her Southern Accent is kinda creepy. And annoying.
