10 Scariest Ever Batman Comics Stories

3. Faces

Batman dracula
DC Comics

Yet another showing for Legends of the Dark Knight, and the return of Two-Face. This is all Harvey Dent's story though, written and illustrated by Matt Wagner in beautifully Gothic style. Part inspired by the classic horror film Freaks, Faces sees Two-Face collecting an army of deformed super-soldiers. The perpetual stick-in-the-mud Batman is once again left to stop him.

Faces is a simple story, told by Wagner, who illustrates the action in a fashion not dissimilar to the popular Animated Series... except with gore and a sympathetic fascination with his 'freaks'.

Batman is almost a bit-player here, competent, but just vulnerable enough that we fear for his plight at the hands of a rarely-more sinister Two-Face.
