Wilson Fisk has had a long road to travel to get to his position as Kingpin of Crime.

Growing up poor, Wilson was often bullied by his classmates for being overweight. This led to his eventual obsession with becoming the best at everything. Over the years, he trained his body to become a champion bodybuilder and eventually found work as a bodyguard for the mob.

Fisk then gave himself a direct promotion by murdering his boss and taking over the gang. However, any further criminal ambitions were blocked when he made enemies of both HYDRA and everyone's favourite copyright-friendly Italian syndicate the Maggia.

Temporarily, Wilson was forced to flee to Japan. There he set himself up as a trader of exotic spices and earned his fortune. With his newfound resources, he then returned to New York.

Wilson's plan to seize control of New York's gangs was rooted in the same level of violence that would come to define his reign. He deliberately began setting rival gangs against each other, pushing them into an all-out war regardless of who would be caught in the crossfire.

With the Maggia's control gone and New York's criminal underworld in turmoil, Fisk then stepped in to offer all the remaining gang bosses a peaceful solution and united them under his leadership.
