Music can be one of the most important things when establishing the feel and tone of a TV show. Again, Breaking Bad is a shining example, with its minimalist theme song and also the superb use of music throughout the many montages of meth-cooking and prisoner-stabbing that appeared throughout its run (thinking of Crystal Clear Connection, especially). In their roles as both writers and executive producers on Preacher, it appears that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are as switched onto the importance of music in TV as AMCs previous series. So it makes perfect sense that, as Rogen himself tweeted, the theme song for Preacher will be Son Of A Preacher Man. Popularised by Nancy Sinatra, modern audiences probably know the song best for its use in Pulp Fiction. Its the perfect choice for Preacher, too, with Jesse Custer being a wholly untraditional man of the cloth in many ways; and, well, thats a song about a preachers son having lots of sex, which tends to be frowned upon in the clergy.
