10 Best British Horror Movies Since 2000

Shaun Of The Dead
20th Century Fox

Danny Boyle is a national treasure, and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise. Fight them to the bitter, ugly end with with nothing but a potato peeler and a pack of chewing gum, and I’d win. Don’t come for Danny.

28 Days Later is the one of the first films to popularise the running zombie, breaking away from the traditional conventions as laid out by George A. Romero. When a lab experiment released to the public accidentally leads to a pandemic of the Rage virus, all of the UK becomes infected, turning its victims into insatiably aggressive husks. Jim (Cillian Murphy) must find his way to safety after waking up from a coma amidst the madness - leading to him discovering just how far society will break down in panic. It's visceral, it's exciting, and it was at the start of the zombie uprising that hooked every conceivable pop culture outlet for the next 10 years. It's bloody good.
