10 Comic Book Movie Moments That Felt More Like Horror Movies

9. The Venom Transformation (Spider-Man 3)

Topher Grace's Venom was terrible - that's something 99% of us can agree on. His version of Eddie Brock was a wimpy, whiny, pathetic excuse for a villain - granted, it was based more on the Ultimate version of the character and therefore not ignorant of all source material, but it wasn't the Venom the fans (or Sam Raimi, for that matter) wanted by a long shot. That said, one thing Sony got right with the character was the visuals (or at least they were closer to being right than the characterisation). Venom looked pretty cool - perhaps he could have done with being bulked up a little bit post-transformation, but he looked decent regardless. On that note, the actual transformation of Grace's Brock into the Venom persona was terrifying. The invasive symbiotic entity completely engulfed his body in a scene of unimaginable horror for the host's body and was reminiscent of a scene from Alien, The Faculty or The Hidden. Having your body taken over forcibly and painfully by an alien entity is a truly horrifying thought and Spider-Man 3 depicted it well.
