10 Comic Book Movie Moments That Felt More Like Horror Movies
8. The Charred "Corpse" (Blade)
Now, this might be cheating somewhat as Blade was presented as something of a horror movie in the first place, but this particular moment was horror epitomised. In the iconic opening scenes of Blade, when the day-walking vampire hunter turns up at the vampire nightclub (you know the one - blood showers, "Phat Bass" in the background etc) and slaughters hordes of vampire clubbers, he encounters a bearded vampire called Quinn, whom he knows to be an associate of the upstart vampire leader Deacon Frost. Instead of killing Quinn, Blade simply sets him on fire, telling him that it's a message to Frost, and leaves the club after a good night's work. Quinn is later seen in a nearby hospital - his charred body having been delivered for an autopsy, as those people who discovered him understandably figured he was dead. During the autopsy, Quinn's horrifically burnt body sits up and attacks the doctor conducting the autopsy in a typical horror "jump scene". He then attacks hematologist Dr. Karen Jenson, whom later finds herself allied to Blade, before the vampire hunter arrives to save her - but not before Quinn escapes in to the night.
