10 Comic Book Movie One Liners That Were Unintentionally Hilarious

More bad than badass.

It's fair to say that comic book movies aren't generally known for their subtlety and restraint, with their larger-than-life characters and epic battles allowing writers to lean into the pulpy silliness and serve up some cartoonish one-liners.

Sadly the screenwriter isn't always in on the joke, though, and either due to the line itself, a misguided performance or some off-key direction, a sliver of dialogue can turn out funny for all the wrong reasons.

Tone is an important aspect of any movie, and these 10 superhero films dropped the ball with these moments which, while intended to be cool, witty or even vaguely serious, were met with nothing more than uproarious laughter from audiences.

Each of them lives on today in meme form, though their utility has strayed undeniably far from what everyone involved with the movie actually intended.

Whether that accidental humour comes with a side order of cringe or not is, of course, likely to vary significantly among viewers...

10. "Some Kinda Suicide Squad" - Suicide Squad

Is there any better example of a one-liner that was fine for marketing purposes but clearly should've been cut from the final movie?

About half-way through the infamous DC dud, Deadshot (Will Smith) turns to Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and asks him, "So that's it? What, we some kind of suicide squad?"

Title namedrops are almost always a bit of a gamble as to whether audiences can take them seriously or not, but this one was just too on-the-nose to work in the context of the actual film itself.

As a result the one-liner quickly became a laughing stock online, to the point that it's still an enduring meme over two years later.

Poor Will Smith: he really tried to make it work, but there was no way for this to turn out anything other than embarrassing and accidentally laughable.
