10 Darkest Moments In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

8. Bruce And Natasha - Avengers: Age Of Ultron

While Bruce and Natasha's romance in Avengers: Age Of Ultron did feel like it came out of nowhere, it was well acted and contained a couple of standout moments.

One of these came during the movie's quietest period, with our heroes taking a well-deserved break and lying low at the Barton family home.

Bruce and Natasha share a lengthy conversation - and almost share a shower - during which we learn that the red-headed assassin was sterilised at a young age and cannot have children, despite clearly wanting a normal life with Bruce; a life she can never have.

And neither can he, for obvious reasons. The movie draws parallels between the two characters (referring to them both as "monsters") that help their romance make more sense. Natasha feels like she's an outcast, like she can never be loved, and that's exactly how Bruce feels - a mutuality that brings them together.

The Bratasha romance was not among Age Of Ultron's standout plot moments, but it covered some incredibly dark, adult material for a superhero movie aimed at kids and families, and it should be commended for that.
