10 Huge Crossover Events For Marvel’s Phase 4

6. Fear Itself

Matt Fraction€™s 2011 miniseries Fear Itself €“ and the various tie-in titles that connected to it €“ could make for a great Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover event. In the comics, this story begins when Red Skull€™s daughter Sin discovers an ancient Asgardian relic The Hammer Of Skadi (which the Red Skull hid using Nazi resources during World War II). Lifting the hammer transforms Sin physically and gifts her with new powerful capabilities. This also triggers seven further Asgardian weapons to fall to Earth, which quickly possess powerful Marvel characters (including The Hulk, The Thing and The Juggernaut). These characters become the seven generals of The Serpent, a recently-revived enigmatic being that believes himself to be the true king of Asgard. It falls to Thor to lead an Avengers team in confronting The Serpent and his generals. The battle doesn't go too well (with The Serpent breaking Captain America€™s shield at one stage). Tony Stark worked furiously to forge weapons that could defeat the generals, but ultimately Thor had to die to stop them. With tragic consequences, loads of big battles and links back to WWII-era Marvel history, this could make for a great crossover movie in Marvel€™s Phase 4. They€™d have to replace some characters (Juggernaut and The Thing's rights are at Fox, of course), but Fear Itself could very much work on the big screen.
