6. Francis, On Spontaneity, In The Darjeeling Limited
"I want us to be completely open and say yes to everything even if it's shocking and painful. Can we agree to that?"
This is exactly how life could be lived, if a person wanted to. The theory of being spontaneous often remains as a theory; because the realities of actually saying yes to everything is almost too scary to comprehend. Often a person's life is overrun by financial worries, a career, responsibilities to others; and it can prove very difficult to leave a life behind in order to find a new one just for the hell of it without any reason other than just wanting to say yes more. However, these wise words from Francis may well have prompted a few audience members to leave the cinema, pack their bags, and take off on a marvellous adventure where the word 'no' is no longer part of their vocabulary.
