10 Major Comic Book Conflicts We Expect To See In Future Marvel Movies
5. Kree Vs Skrulls (Kree-Skrull War)
The Kree-Skrull War is a classic comic book storyline that sees the heroes of the Marvel universe get caught up in an age-old battle between two warring alien species - the Kree and the Skrulls. Now, the Skrulls don't actually exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to rights issues, but the Chitauri were put in their places for the Avengers movie, in which they attacked Earth in the climatic Battle of New York scenes in the same way the Skrulls have done in the comics. They were able deputies and could quite easily replace them in a Skrull-Chitauri War movie. The Chitauri's general - the Other - was killed by the Kree villain Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy (he hit him with his warhammer and twisted his head 180 degrees), so the foundations have actually been laid for this potential war in future instalments. In the comic the heroes, who include the Avengers, the Inhumans and the Fantastic Four, get involved inadvertently in the battle and have to fight to prevent the Kree from devolving Earth in to a prehistoric wasteland to use as a venue for their war with the Skrulls. Although the Fantastic Four couldn't be included, the Avengers are already in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Inhumans are expected to arrive soon and the Guardians of the Galaxy could quite easily be added for some extra fire-power. It would be very cool to see all three teams fighting to prevent Earth from becoming a battlefield for an ancient ongoing alien battle and, given the incredible popularity of the story, there's no reason why it shouldn't happen in a movie.
