6. Preston vs. Brandt - Equilibrium
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aGvJW-0lcg&t=4m8s Early on in Kurt Wimmer's wildly underrated Matrix knock-off, Grammaton Clerics Preston (Christian Bale) and Brandt (Taye Diggs) are partners, though when Preston eventually ends up going rogue against the very system he previously obeyed, this all goes out the window. Preston shoots his way to the lair of Vice-Counsel DuPont (Angus Macfayden), the man looking to take him out, but first, he has to face off against his old partner in a katana fight. "Great!", we think, "This is going to be freaking epic!". The two prepare to do battle, but before you know it, Preston slices at Brandt's face, causing him to drop to the floor, and the front of his face to fall off (with some crappy CGI to boot). Granted, we get a pretty slick Gun Kata battle between Preston and DuPont afterwards, but I had my heart set on an epic battle between the two former partners, something the film absolutely didn't deliver.
