10 Movies In 2017 That Killed The Wrong Character

7. Bob Murphy (Sunny Suljic) - The Killing Of A Sacred Deer

The Killing Of A Sacred Deer Ending
A24

The Death: In order to lift the curse placed on his family, cardiac surgeon Stephen (Colin Farrell) is forced to kill a single member of his family, either his wife Anna (Nicole Kidman), son Bob (Sunny Siljic) or daughter Kim (Raffey Cassidy).

At the end of the movie, he binds and blindfolds the three of them, then blindfolds himself as the runs around in circles on the spot with a rifle, firing randomly and waiting to see who "fate" picks to die. The first two bullets miss, but the third hits Bob in the chest, killing him instantly.

Who Should've Died Instead: There's no doubting that Bob's death ends this absurdist dark comedy on a chilling down-note, but writer-director Yorgos Lanthimos could've taken his darkly comic bent even further by having Anna die instead.

Though Bob dying is horrific, Stephen still has his wife to confide in on something approaching a similar level of human understanding, but if Bob killed his wife, before presumably burying the corpse in the garden and having to live the rest of his life with this knowledge, alongside two traumatised children no less, wouldn't it be even more screwed up and darkly comedic?
