Why You Have To Try It: With such variety in films and all manner of talented people behind and in front of the camera, either of the Alien and Predator series are worth a marathon standing alone, to highlight both how great they can be and how even talented directors can make big mistakes.
The thing is, you cant really watch the two together without bringing in their nadir, Alien Vs. Predator. This is the real link between the two (that xenomorph skull in Predator 2 doesn't count) and unfortunately they have to be suffered back to back. Now, there is of course the amplified benefit of seeing the franchises hit their lowest ebb before coming back with fresh revamps (dont listen to the haters - both Predators and Prometheus are worthy watches), but it's such a painful way to do it. If youre feeling reckless, by all means ignore AVP, but for full points they have to be included.
