10 Robert De Niro Movies That Suck More Than Dirty Grandpa
4. Freelancers
Its not uncommon for major stars to wind up in movies that head straight to DVD ask Bruce Willis or Nic Cage but its still sad to see De Niro ending up in such tripe. The appeal these films offer is easy to understand; spend a few days onset in exchange for a nice cheque, and get treated like royalty while youre there. Still, he could have tried to find something more engaging than Freelancers, which might be one of the most clichéd cop movies in history. De Niro and Forest Whitaker glide through their supporting parts while acting powerhouse 50 Cent takes the lead, in a thriller so undercooked it might give viewers food poisoning. The movie is basically The Departed, only sucked free of any wit, intelligence or directorial flair. The only enjoyable part of Freelancers is watching the scenes with De Niro acting against Mr. Cent, and seeing the wide gulf in ability between the two. Even on autopilot mode Bobby has more charisma and depth than the flat, mumbly Fiddy could ever dream of.
