10 Star Wars: The Force Awakens Rumours That Ended Up Being Bullsh*t

4. Darth Vader Returns From The Dead

As much as fans hate it, George Lucas' constant changes to his Star Wars movies mean that Hayden Christensen is now forever part of the Original Trilogy, replacing Sebastian Shaw as the ghostly Anakin Skywalker at the end of Return Of The Jedi. There were naturally worries that would bleed over in The Force Awakens, although the most popular rumour involving Vader was a little different; there would be a scene featuring Vader meeting with The Inquisitors in the franchise's first flashback. That obviously didn't happen, and while J.J. Abrams has revealed that the movie was at one time going to be about the quest to recover the Sith Lord's remains, it's hard to believe that there was ever a plan to have him heavily feature here (or to be brought back from the dead as some of the sillier rumours claimed). Now that this movie is out of the way, we just have to wait and see if more recent stories about Christensen training for Episode VIII are correct and if the iconic villain's helmet and chest piece really have been spotted on the set of Star Wars: Rogue One. Given its setting, the latter one seems at least somewhat likely. The closest we get to seeing Vader in Star Wars: The Force Awakens are the charred remains of his helmet and a snippet of him breathing during Rey's vision, so there was clearly never any truth to this one.
