10 Star Wars: The Force Awakens Rumours That Ended Up Being Bullsh*t

3. Kylo Ren Is The Emperor's Grandson

From the moment Kylo Ren was first revealed in the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, speculation about who might be beneath the mask began running rampant. The rumour about him being the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia ended up proving to be correct, but long before that surfaced there was a very interesting report doing the rounds about him being the grandson of Emperor Palpatine. This one appeared to be part speculation due to there being a character in a '90s era series of Star Wars novels (titled Jedi Prince) which features a young boy called Ken who was part of Palaptine's lineage and ended up being trained in the ways of the Force by Luke Skywalker before ultimately succumbing to the Dark Side. There are obviously some similarities there between how his and Kylo Ren's story played out, but seeing as "Ren" is a title and Palpatine was nowhere to be seen in The Force Awakens, it really would be a bit of a stretch to try and connect this rumour with the reality. Still, seeing as Supreme Leader Snoke is widely believed to be Darth Plagueis (The Emperor's one-time Master), the character may still factor into this trilogy, just not as the grandfather of Ben Solo!
