10 Terrible Movies That Tricked Us With Awesome Posters

1. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace

What The Poster Promised Us: Featuring a young, innocent and unassuming Anakin Skywalker as the distinctly Darth Vader-shaped shadow of his destiny looms ominously over him, the tasty teaser poster for The Phantom Menace suggested we were going to see this little whippersnapper’s transformation into the most fearsome Sith Lord in the entire galaxy.

What We Actually Got: A grating kid actor with not much in the way of acting skills who turns not to the dark side but into an ever so slightly older little boy in an overly cluttered movie that seems more concerned with intergalactic taxation systems and trade routes than tracking young Anakin’s evolution into evil.

And how could we forget cinema’s most annoying (and possibly racist) sidekick Jar Jar f**king Binks and his embarrassing pseudo Jamaican accent.
