10 Unpopular Movie Opinions (And How To Justify Them)

1. David Fincher Is Hollywood's Most Wasted Filmmaker

There's no denying that David Fincher is one of the most talented and meticulous filmmakers working in Hollywood today, but let's face it, he's also one of the most bafflingly squandered.

Fincher has the clout to make pretty much anything he wants, but he so often works with low-rent material not befitting his talents.

This is especially true in the case of his last two movies, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl, which are both wilfully trashy stories elevated immensely by Fincher's exacting work behind the camera (and the strong performances of his cast, no doubt).

Fincher has always had an interest in the lurid, and though his work on Netflix's Mindhunter approximates the classy sort of filmmaking mode he should be bringing to the big screen, he's tentatively titled to be directing World War Z 2 next.

There are countless ways that a Fincher-directed zombie movie could be awesome, but a PG-13 studio tentpole sequel? Not a chance.

This will end up his third straight movie that could've easily been directed by any old hack, and given how long Fincher tends to wait between movies, it's infuriating that he wastes his talents on classing-up airport novels.
