10 Upcoming Blockbusters That Could Massively Disappoint

A cynical dissection of ten of the biggest blockbusters on their way to a theater near you.

Terminator Geniys With the dust almost settled on the summer movie season, 2014 turned out to be one of the best years in recent memory for quality blockbusters. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Godzilla, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, How To Train Your Dragon 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Edge of Tomorrow, The Lego Movie, 22 Jump Street and Guardians of the Galaxy resulted in a great roster of movies for audiences to choose from during the onslaught of studio tent-pole releases, although the two biggest hits of the year so far have been the decidedly mediocre Transformers: Age of Extinction and Maleficent. The quality of this year's summer movies largely made up for a disappointing 2013, where blockbuster season was littered with disappointing efforts and a worrying number of box office flops. Obviously, there have been some pretty terrible movies as well, but in general this has turned out to be a year stacked full of enjoyable blockbuster fare. 2015 in shaping up to be even bigger, with a massive amount of high-profile releases set to bombard the multiplex featuring the usual amount of sequels, reboots, re-imaginings and adaptations. This summer has set a high standard for these movies to live up to, and on paper at least next year has a number of blockbusters with the potential for greatness. However, there is always the chance that plenty of these movies could turn out to be crushing disappointments. With than in mind, this article will take a somewhat cynical look at ten upcoming blockbusters that could do just that. Although there would be nothing better than to be proven wrong on all counts, this list will take a look at ten of the biggest movies currently in production and analyze both the pros and cons surrounding the projects, and why the potential is there for massive disappointment.
