15 Most Hated Comic Book Movie Characters Ever

4. The Mandarin – Iron Man 3

Superheroes typically come up against many a villain during the course of their superhero careers but their archenemies are another thing altogether and while messing up a run of the mill villain might be excusable, not doing justice to an archenemy is a cardinal sin of comic book movies.

While Superman has Lex Luthor and Batman has the Joker, it’s the Mandarin who is Tony Stark aka Iron Man’s arch-nemesis – the chalk to his cheese, the oil to his vinegar as it were. So naturally, the introduction of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 had a great deal riding on it.

It started out promisingly enough when it was announced Oscar winning actor Ben Kingsley was cast as the Mandarin but then director and writer Shane Black decided to pull a sly, old switcheroo by using the Mandarin as a fictional front for Aldrich Killian’s terrorist activities with Kingsley playing a washed up actor hired as the physical face of the archenemy.

As you can imagine, Iron Man fans were not best pleased with this disappointing twist and have been baying for the ‘real Mandarin’ to make an appearance ever since.
