Superman Returns.... the right way.

2016 was a bit of a mixed year overall, but at least cinema gave us some cool scenes to keep us distracted. There was the epic airport fight from Captain America: Civil War, the title fight from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Dr Strange’s multi-universe trip and – naturally – the elephant vagina scene from Grimsby.

There’s a whole range of potentially awesome movies to look forward to in 2017 too, and the promise of equally cool sequences. It could be the return of iconic characters, a dazzling setpiece teased in a trailer or just a good old fashioned action scene. The marketing machine is also playing it's part in building hype for these movies, teasing fans with images and trailers displaying scenes that will dazzle their eyeballs well into the New Year.

Here are some of the coolest scenes to look out for in 2017, and the exact reasons why fans are frothing at the mouth in anticipation for them.

15. Deckard’s Return – Blade Runner 2049

Blade Runner isn’t a natural candidate for sequeldom, but with Harrison Ford doing a victory lap of his iconic roles (Han Solo, Indiana Jones) it made sense he’d return to one of his most influential movies; maybe we can convince him to get around to Air Force Two as well.

Ridley Scott won’t be in the director’s chair this time, but he’ll produce while Arrival’s Denis Villeneuve takes the helm. This time Ryan Gosling’s Blade Runner will be hunting down Ford’s Deckard – for some unexplained reason – thirty years on from the events of the original.

A Blade Runner sequel directed by Villeneuve is reason enough to be excited, but as the trailer itself teased the belated return of Deckard is going to be epic. It may even answer the contentious “Is he or isn’t he a Replicant?” question that’s cling to the original for three decades.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
