20 Hidden Facts That Prove Man Of Steel Is The Most Trivia Filled Film Of 2013

Title6 Along with balancing fan service with keeping things accessible for newbies and making sure the trailer editors don't put all your spectacle in the teaser, it seems like a crucial part of crafting a summer blockbuster is making sure there's plenty of trivia hidden away for fans of all description to comb over. In recent years, with CGI allowing an infinite amount of easter eggs, the amount of easter eggs has grown at a meteoric rate. After writing each entry in the ongoing series 10 Things You Might Have Missed, what's been notable is how there's always a multitude of leftover factoids, prompting two questions; is it getting too much and which film from the past year has the most? The answer to the first is simple; of course not. Joss Whedon may have recently come out bashing in-universe references for pulling you out of the action, but (and this is coming from someone who relishes in nitpicking even the most perfect film) that seems a little joyless; what better way to tease the future or honour the fans than by putting a secret in a movie only those in the know will find? The second question is a little trickier, but I think I have an answer. While I wasn't incredibly enamoured with the film itself, Man Of Steel had a shocking amount of stuff hidden in the background, be it bizarre casting links, easter eggs harking back to Superman's past both in print and on screen or just something thrown in for the craic. The summer's most divisive film has proven to be a feast of trivia and for my money steals the title of most trivia filled film of the year; the original article I wrote upon release left me with so many Easter eggs I just had to share. The only film to come close is Star Trek Into Darkness, which with the high reverence for Wrath Of Khan had Trekkies everywhere grinning, but when you label it with a deserving remake label it really lightens up. To edge it beyond contention (as well as to celebrate the film's recent release on DVD and Blu-Ray here in the UK), here are twenty awesome Easter eggs about Man Of Steel.

20. Trailer Talk

Trailer What first got fans excited for Man Of Steel was the mesmerising (and evidently rather misleading) teaser trailer. Added on to prints of The Dark Knight Rises, the similarities to Nolan€™s film were stark. What made it particularly interesting was the voiceover, which, depending on which version you were watching was from a different one of Superman€™s fathers. They both sum up the respective men perfectly, showing Jor-El€™s innate belief and Jonathan Kent€™s more reserved fear. What€™s really cool about them, however, is that the speeches are monologues directly lifted from the comics. Jor-El€™s comes from All-Star Superman, while Kent€™s is from Superman: Secret Origin. Two very important strips, the former proved to be one of the best received releases of recent years, while the other fleshed out the Earth side of Superman€™s origins.
