19. Cavils Topless To Show Its Real Muscle
We've known Clark Kent for barely five minutes before hes topless; talk about forward. The scene on the oil rig was a nice introduction to the character (and, logically, where the film should have actually begun), but the shot of Cavill topless, with fire reaching around his torso felt a little too like trailer fodder to show off the attractive star. And to a degree that was true. Snyder has admitted the only reason for putting in these topless shots of Cavill was to make it clear to the audience that the actor had bulked up for the role; that the muscles were him and not just the suit. The problem with that, of course, is that when everything else in the film is so imbued with CGI, you can't help but think whats to stop them doing that with the muscles.
18. Amy Adams Was In Smallville (And Totally Different)
Its fair to say Amy Adams Lois Lane was a little different to what had come before. Knowing Superman long before she met Clark, the secret identity side of their relationship has been thankfully negated. Her performance shining through the rather restrictive script likely comes from Adams having a long time to refine the character; shed auditioned for Lois twice before (once for Superman Returns and the other for an unrealised Brett Ratner version). But despite the long wait to finally play the role, this wasn't the Oscar nominees first time in the world of Krypton and Metropolis; she appeared in an episode of Smallville. Donning a fat suit she played Jodi Melville, an occasional journalist obsessed with being thin, she developed the ability to absorb fat. Lets just say her Lois was more believable.
