25 Predictions For Summer 2016's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
11. Independence Day: Resurgence (64%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "As corny and visually astounding as fans of the original would hope for, Independence Day: Resurgence agreeably favours action over logic, even if more could have been done with its stellar cast." Now, director Roland Emmerich has just two critically fresh films in his filmography, with the original Independence Day and The Patriot scoring 60% and 61% respectively, but if there's any movie that might stoke enough nostalgia and deliver enough eye-wateringly beautiful mayhem to win critics over, it's probably this. Yes, it's a perfunctory sequel and there's sadly no Will Smith, but if Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are used right, they can easily add plenty of humour and gravitas to the usual disaster flick formula. Plus, if nothing else, the destruction porn looks freaking epic, though it'd still surprise nobody if the film ended up rotten, right?
