8 Widespread Movie "Facts" That Are Totally Untrue

8. Al Pacino & Robert De Niro Never Share A Scene In Heat (Or Appear In The Same Shot)

Heat Heat is a movie famous for the fact that it stars veteran actors Al Pacino and Robert De Niro as its two central characters - one a cop, the other a criminal mastermind - who try to outsmart each other in what is arguably Michael Mann's greatest work. When anybody mentions Heat, though, there's a strange "fact" that always seems to be attached to it: "Robert De Niro and Al Pacino never share a scene in Heat." The statement tends to vary depend on who's telling it, either as "they're never in a shot together" or "their scenes were shot separately." Um... It's one of those "facts" that you tend to hear so much, that it genuinely plays havoc on your memory, even if you were sure you definitely saw them in a scene together. And they are - not only do they share a scene together in a coffee shop, where they have a full-on conversation, but Al Pacino pulls Robert De Niro's car over at the end of the movie and the two appear in the same frame. This "fact" has presumably reached mythical status because it sounds so very interesting: a movie with Pacino and De Niro, and they don't even appear together? Well, I never!
